A spooky scary night full of beer and friends.

October 26th | Boston, MA – Our biggest single-session festival kicked off at 7 p.m. on a Friday night. Outside the Cyclorama in Boston’s South End, a winding line of 850 beer-heads were putting finishing touches on costumes they hastily threw on at the end of the workday. Inside, 30 breweries were pouring their spookiest beer from tables covered in candy and cheap Halloween decorations. It was like every Halloween party I’ve been to as an adult — a few scattered spider webs, tons of booze, and surprisingly intricate costumes.

Lately, we’ve been trying to evolve our standard beer festivals. Away with the stand-in-line-all-day beer-athons of last year. In this regard Spooky Brews was a massive success. It was at night, so indulging felt right. It was Halloween, so everyone had an excuse to get weird. It felt like a house party with unbelievable beer, not a festival full of strangers. By the end of the night, there was a dance party in front of the DJ booth, a black and white movie projected on the wall, and enough candy wrappers on the floor to make my dentist blush.

We’ll definitely be back next year. Thanks for an unforgettable night, Boston!
