We’ve all been there. You want to drink that new can or bottle right now, but it’s still lukewarm. This is a constant struggle during the summer, especially for the Hop Culture team as we’ve run out of room in our beer fridge.

Warm beer is the scourge of beer drinkers everywhere. Of course, you’ll need to invest in a great cooler and throwing a koozie on that can couldn’t hurt, but if you need a cold brew in a pinch, you’re usually out of luck.

But, we’ve got a foolproof way to cool down your beer that doesn’t involve chucking it in the freezer or holding your can up to the AC unit.

Step 1: Grab a Bucket, Bowl, or Pot

Or any type of bowl that’s big enough for the cans or bottles you’re trying to cool.

Step 2: Fill with water and ice

Cover your beer with water and ice from the freezer.

Step 3: Add salt

Yes, salt. Add about a cup of salt per every three pounds of ice used. The salt will help reduce the freezing temperature of the water. Make sure to mix the salt into the water.

Step 4: Wash off the cans/bottles

You don’t want salty beer!

Step 5: Enjoy!

‘Nuff said.
