Don't Forget to Check Out the Juiciest!

Curious to see all the best beers we drank, breweries we visited, places we traveled in 2024, and so much more? Check out our “2024 Juiciest Awards!”

Are you participating in Dry January this year? You’re not alone. According to research by The New Consumer/Coefficient, forty-nine percent of Gen Z and Millennial drinkers in the States plan to abstain from drinking alcohol during the rest of this month.

As the non-alcoholic segment of the beer industry has grown, Dry January has become a mainstay among those looking to moderate their consumption, especially at the beginning of the year.

A recent report Hop Culture received from NielsenIQ called “Beverage Alcohol: What Will Drive 2025?” showed that off-premise non-alc sales from the last fifty-two weeks recorded $740 million—up a little over $175 million from the year before. The report also stated that searches of non-alcoholic beverages and alternatives on Google reached 51.9 million, accounting for 1.5 percent of all alcoholic beverage searches in 2024.

Overall, NielsenIQ predicts that the non-alcoholic space in off-premise channels will reach over $1 billion in sales by the end of this year.

These numbers mean that participants in Dry January have more options than ever for non-alcoholic beer, hop water, functional beverages, and even NA wine or spirits.

“Thinking about non-alc products, we have a lot of new players in this space, whether it’s traditional craft brewers entering into non-alc like a Firestone Walker, you have your non-alc-only companies like Athletic or RationAle, you have the big players like Heineken, Bud, [soon] Michelob Ultra,” said 3 Tier Beverages Consultant Mary Mills during a presentation Hop Culture attended at Brewbound Live last December. “It’s becoming a really popular space to enter.”

With so many products out there right now, it can be hard to keep track of everything. We’ve written about our favorite non-alcoholic brands to watch, the best non-alcoholic beers available in most stores near you, and even our top hop waters. For this Dry January, in particular, we’re focusing on our new favorite non-alcoholic beverages that we actually have in our own fridges right now.

As with any list, these recommendations are only our opinions. Did we miss your favorite non-alcoholic beverage? Give us a shout on IG @hopculturemag!

Top 12 New Non-Alcoholic Beverages for Dry January 2025

Samuel Adams Golden and Just the Haze Non-Alcoholic

Boston Beer Co. Founder Jim Koch is no stranger to bucking convection and embracing innovation. He launched his brewery with a recipe for Vienna lager in 1984, for gosh sake. Over almost forty years, he’s built Boston Beer Co. into one of the most iconic breweries in the country. But for a long time, Koch firmly believed that Boston Beer would never make a non-alcoholic beer. Until three years ago, when Samuel Adams released Just the Haze, a non-alcoholic IPA.

See, brewing a non-alcoholic beer that’s full-flavored, well-balanced, and full of body can actually be pretty tricky.

The Boston Beer Company Senior Manager of Brewing R&D Christina Hahn figured if she and the team could “crack the code for hop flavor and aroma in non-alc beer” in a hazy, delivering that authentic New England IPA experience, “we could really do anything,” she says. “From a beer nerd perspective, that was the holy grail!”

So, in a cloudy sea of many NA beers that taste the same, Just the Haze has emerged like a ray of sun, delivering on the promise of a non-alcoholic hazy built by beer lovers, for beer lovers.

At the Great American Beer Festival in 2021, Just the Haze nabbed a gold only six months after launching, and in 2023, won a silver at the World Beer Cup.

And Sam Adams isn’t stopping with just one SKU. In early 2023, the brand launched Golden (formerly called Gold Rush), a cool, crisp, clean golden lager, somewhat the opposite of the juicy, fruity, tropical Just the Haze.

We’re adding Sam Adams to this list of the top non-alcoholic beverages we’re drinking for this Dry January because they told us they’re only getting started innovating in the NA space.

“We know our non-alc drinkers like variety, so we are going to continue to explore that and challenge Christina and her team to come up with new, cool, interesting non-alc beers,” says The Boston Beer Company Senior Brand Manager Samuel Adams, Jasen Holley. “We’ll see what happens in the future!”

Untitled Art Non-Alcoholic Italian Pilsner

Hop Culture Senior Content Editor Grace Lee-Weitz discovered recently that her dad decided to cut back on drinking. She asked if he had tried NA beer, which received a lukewarm response of, “Yes, and I don’t like any of them.”

It seemed he had given up on finding a delicious non-alcoholic beer, so Lee-Weitz began bringing over different versions, such as Untitled Art, determined to find one he liked.

Last month, he sent Lee-Weitz a text, “Drinking an Untitled Art NA Italian Style Pils which you brought over. Best NA I ever had!”

Followed a couple of days later by, “Now trying the Juicy IPA. Also very good.”

It’s the flavor here that stands out. In that aforementioned Non-Alcoholic Italian Pilsner, Untitled Art includes Hallertau Mittelfrüh and Strata hops for a crisp but pleasantly floral finish.

Other versions, such as the Non-Alcoholic Juicy IPA, burst forward with tropical Citra and Mosaic hops, while the Non-Alcoholic Chocolate Dark Brew is a richly rewarding, almost iced cocoa or chocolate milk delight.

Sierra Nevada Trail Pass Variety Pack

Last year, Sierra Nevada introduced Trail Pass, its first line of non-alcoholic beers, including Trail Pass IPA and Trail Pass Golden.

The former, an impactful IPA with Bravo, CTZ, Magnum, and Cascade hops, and the latter an easy-drinking golden ale (not lager) featuring Centennial, Cascade, and Bravo hops.

For this Dry January, Sierra Nevada added two more flavors to create an innovative non-alc variety 12-pack—Trail Pass Hazy IPA and Trail Pass Brewveza.

“At Sierra Nevada, we’re constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the world of craft beverage,” wrote Pryce Greenow, CEO and President at Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., in a press release. “The Trail Pass Non-Alcoholic Variety Pack exemplifies this spirit. It allows beer lovers to explore a range of non-alcoholic styles, from the citrusy bite of our IPA to the refreshing lime and salt notes of the Trail Pass Brewveza. We believe this variety pack offers a perfect companion for any adventure, allowing you to enjoy flavorful, high-quality craft brew experiences without the alcohol.”

Trail Pass Hazy IPA leans into Sierra Nevada’s track record of flavorful, jam-packed tropical hazies, while Trail Pass Brewveza brings a light, refreshing take on an NA Mexican-style blonde ale.

We picked up hints of lime, salt, and the beach. No joke.

We thought both were excellent additions to the portfolio and highly recommend picking up the new variety pack to last you through Dry January…or at least the first couple of weeks.

Oskar Blues Designated Dale’s NA Pils

Launched last October by Oskar Blues, Designated Dale’s NA Pils earned the rep as the “realest fake beer” on the market. Building off the brewery’s legacy of innovation and bucking convention, this non-alcoholic beer forwent the typical hoppy versions of most NA beers, heading straight for lager land.

Billed as “using real ingredients and brewed by real brewers,” Designated Dale’s NA Pils starts with two-row pilsner malts before getting a dose of German hops.

We tasted lots of rustic baking bread and corn muffins. But most of all, this non-alcoholic beer gave us that crisp, clean bite we crave in a lager.

When we want an unfussy, unflappable pale ale, we always reach for a Dale’s Pale Ale.

Now, when we want a no-nonsense, no-alcohol lager, we’re grabbing a Designated Dale’s NA Pils.

Athletic Brewing Paloma and Moscow Mule

The most successful non-alcoholic brand in the United States recently launched two new flavors that have us drooling.

A part of the brewery’s cocktail-inspired series, Paloma and Moscow Mule tap into one of our “Top Craft Beer Trends of 2025”: RTDs going NA.

Fashioned after the eponymous cocktail, Paloma packs a grapefruit punch with an undercurrent of lime. Athletic encourages you to actually drink this non-alcoholic beer over ice with a lime wedge. Although, we loved it just on its own.

Similarly, the Moscow Mule amplifies the flavors of this classic bar drink—ginger and lime and spicy and tart.

What we love so much about Athletic is that, like a great athlete, they’re never afraid to run a little faster, push through one more rep, and basically do anything they can to perfect their performance.

We haven’t seen any other flavors of NA beer like this on the market, so we’re gobbling up these limited-edition versions while we can.

RationAle German Kölsch

We’ve been long-time fans of RationAle, so when they dropped a new flavor—German-style Kölsch—our ears perked up. With this NA beer, RationAle aims to “bring authentic European flavors to the NA craft beer scene, so everyone can still enjoy a crisp, refreshing brew during Dry January,” according to the NA brewery.

We picked up notes of fresh bread with a hint of melon and zesty spice for a dry finish “that keeps you coming back for more,” says RationAle

And the best part? As a part of RationAle’s “Krush our Kölsch” campaign, you can get a six-pack of this beer right now for fifty percent off until the end of January.

Society De La Rassi

We haven’t dipped too far into the NA wine pool, but data shows this might be an intriguing new direction for non-alcoholic beverages in 2025.

In the U.S., global trends firm IWSR reported that the no-alcohol market grew in volume twenty-nine percent in 2023, with an eighteen percent increase in no-alcohol wine.

So when a premium, dealcoholized sparkling wine called Society De La Rassi popped into our inbox, let’s just say we were intrigued.

Founder and Creative Director Steve Jackson developed Society De La Rassi after his own sobriety journey, and the passion is evident in everything from the branding to the bottle.

Made exclusively from one hundred percent Chardonnay grapes grown in La Mancha, Alcázar de San Juan, Spain, Society De La Rassi impressed us with its punchy panache.

Called a “Neue Brut,” this non-alcoholic wine undergoes vacuum distillation to preserve its core flavor while removing the alcohol. A final flourish of grape must adds a little kick to give this NA wine a layer of complexity that will suit any celebration.

If we had to define this non-alcoholic beverage in one word: luxury.

We feel like a million bucks when we drink Society De La Rassi. And the best part? We feel like a million bucks the next morning, too.

Best Day Galaxy Ripple Imperial IPA

For a few years now, we’ve been big fans of Best Day and its mission to create the world’s best-tasting non-alcoholic beer. But until recently, we hadn’t had the opportunity to try any new flavors.

Meaning we couldn’t have been more excited to test out both the Electro-Lime Mexican-style lager and the newest-kid-on-the-block Galaxy Ripple Imperial IPA.

The former provided a refreshing punch of lime with just a whisper of salt and honey.

The latter, which just hit shelves during the holidays last month, brings a bold, vibrant DIPA to Best Day’s portfolio.

“As we head into winter, we wanted to create a beer that had wintry notes like pine but also refreshing fruity flavors to transport drinkers somewhere not-so-cold,” wrote Best Day Chief Innovation Officer Ron Lindenbusch in a press release. “The Galaxy Ripple is the perfect sip for winter and beyond with its balance of malt sweetness and rich layering of hop flavors and bitterness.”

We found a bit of pithiness balanced with bursts of grapefruit and tangerine.

Only a seasonal release, Dry January would be the perfect time for you to try this new peach, pineapple, and passion fruit bomb of a non-alcoholic DIPA.

Allagash Hop Water

Allagash’s first foray into hop waters is nothing short of legendary.

Brewed with orange peel, Citra, and Crystal hops, Allagash Hop Water borrows influences from the footprints of the brewery’s best-selling Allagash White.

Which also means it’s attempting to fill some pretty big shoes.

The sweetness of that orange peel gives this hop water a vibrant brightness that we haven’t found in others.

It may seem weird to call this hop water addictive, but we couldn’t stop drinking it.

Did we expect anything less than legendary? Of course not, but it’s always satisfying when something even as simple as a hop water gets you hyped and lives up to the expectations.

Drowned Lands EverHop Lime Spritz

The Drowned Lands makes some of our most treasured and favorite beers. So when Founder Mike Kraai reached out to us about a new line of hop waters they’re producing called EverHop, we knew we had to try them.

“Born in the Hudson Valley, EverHop is the only hop water crafted with real hops and real fruit additions that complement and enhance the hoppy goodness,” Kraai shared with Lee-Weitz in an email. “It contains no gluten, alcohol, extracts, artificial sweeteners, or added sugars. Or, as we like to say, ’All of the Bubbles, None of the Troubles!’”

Lee-Weitz tasted all four flavors: the Original, Citra Mango, Rosé Limonade, and Lime Spritz. Overall, these hop waters are seriously legit. They are almost on another plane, each with its own spritzy carbonation and an outstanding balance of hop flavor.

An avid sparkling water drinker (two a day minimum), Lee-Weitz has pretty high standards in the land of bubbles. Cold, crisp, and carbed are the three pillars she feels bubbly beverages need to hit.

EverHop delivers on all three. And then some with a sparkle of real fruit and, of course, hops.

In each flavor, the hops and fruit sing together.

Lee-Weitz enjoyed all the varieties but fell in love with the Lime Spritz, which has an extra citrus zest zip that adds another layer of complexity. The 12oz can packs incredible carbonation and tang, complemented by a rich limeyness that still feels light. “Zesty” and “zippy” are written right on the can and best describe this spritz. Simcoe hops combine with refreshing lime juice to give that pleasant pop of pineyness, apricot, and peach.

Kraai said he leans toward the Rosé Limonade, mentioning everyone seems to have a different favorite. According to Kraai, “EverHop uses a really unique and innovative hop technique to maintain vibrant tropical flavors without any vegetal matter.”

While he didn’t say more, consider us converted. And if you need more proof, Lee-Weitz said she sat down to just “test” each 12oz can…and, throughout writing this piece, drank all four dry to the bone.

Firestone Walker 8ZERO5

Launched last September, Firestone Walker’s 8ZERO5 takes California’s number one craft beer brand and subs out the alcohol.

Firestone Walker’s first-ever NA offering, 8ZERO5, may not have the ABV, but it retains all the flavor and quality of the OG.

Refreshing, easy-drinking, and thirst-quenching, but with less than 0.5% ABV and only sixty calories, 8ZERO5 has “Zero Limits,” according to the brewery.

“We believe that just because a beer is non-alcoholic, it doesn’t mean it should be any less satisfying. With 8ZERO5, we’re thrilled to offer our fans, drinkers, and athletes an 805 Beer for the non-alcohol occasion,” said Firestone Walker Chief Marketing Officer Dustin Hinz, in a press release. “Whether it’s from the paddle out to the podium, the flow state to the zen den, when the moment calls for zero limits, drinkers can now reach for an 8ZERO5.”

For over two years, Firestone Walker Brewmaster Matt Brynildson oversaw the development of 8ZERO5. The brewery even took its non-alcoholic offering through vigorous field testing with the brand’s roster of athletes, including World Surf League professional surfer Lakey Peterson, nine-time X-Games medalist Tyler Bereman, and MMA champion Tabatha Ricci, among others.

Aiming to make an NA beer ideal for everyone, from thrill-seeking surfers to down-to-chill beachgoers, 8ZERO5 offers the signature flavor that made 805 Blonde Ale a best-selling beer…just without the worry about dragging down your body.

“We’ve tasted and analyzed 805 Blonde Ale’s appeal exhaustively over the past ten years, and we know all of the key elements that customers love in that beer, and we wanted to capture these elements in the non-alcoholic version closely,” Brynildson said. “We worked hard, nailed it, and now we’re off to the races. We’ve got something here that can compete with anything in the non-alcoholic space, and I’m pretty stoked about it.”

So are we!

TRIP

We first noticed TRIP during a…trip down to Southern California for the Brewbound Live conference last December.

Samples of TRIP were available at the conference, and we also found some stocked in the trendy minibar in our hotel by the beach.

Billed as a “sparkling drink infused with a blend of nature’s botanicals,” TRIP touts that it will help you unwind without the worry of the next morning.

Containing a unique blend of magnesium, Lion’s mane, ashwagandha, and L-theanine, “every delicious drop has been crafted for calm,” according to TRIP.

Currently, the brand includes a variety of flavors, such as Elderflower Mint, Peach Ginger, Cucumber Mint, and Raspberry Orange Blossom.

Dry January isn’t supposed to be stressful.

Crack a can of TRIP and take a trip to calm.
