Now Hiring for Fall Internships
Must love beer.
For Fall 2017, we currently have several internship opportunities for driven and attentive individuals. Our small but skilled staff is made up of creatives who are interested in mastering the art of digital media (and drinking beer).
You can find our current openings below. Despite covering the hoppy and alcoholic, we are looking for talented and determined candidates who want to help us grow into one of the largest online publications dedicated to craft beer.
Editorial Internship
Current Openings: New York City
Twenty or thirty-something? Like craft beer? This internship is probably for you.
In three months, you’ll learn how to take a story from conception to production and develop a strong portfolio of online writing. Candidates should hate off-flavors with almost as much fervency as typos. Intelligence, inspiration, and a good sense of humor are a must. The ideal candidate prioritizes reporting and research — doing deep dives to find the correct answer, not the obvious one — and writing that translates the complex into the clear and concise — like they are chatting with friends over beers.
How to Apply
Interested? Send a cover letter and résumé to [email protected] with the subject line EDITORIAL INTERN. Applicants should also attach or provide links to 3-5 work samples that give us a clear idea of your skill set(s), ability to problem solve, and creative approach. You are not required to be above the age of 21 to apply, though its strongly preferred.
Design Internship
Current Openings: NYC
Do you love Photoshop? Is Frank Gehry your hero? Can you whip up a custom drawing in the time it takes most people to brush their teeth?
Over the course of three months, you’ll practice creating assets for an online magazine, all while developing a digital portfolio. A distinct aesthetic and confidence are a must. Only candidates who have proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) will be considered.
How to Apply
Interested? Send a cover letter and résumé to [email protected] with the subject line PHOTO/VIDEO INTERN. Applicants should also include links to 3-5 published work samples that give us a clear idea of your skill set(s) and your creative approach. If you have not been published, include a link to a Dropbox folder that contains a portfolio of your best 8-12 photographs, with an explanation of your approach to the work. Photography interns are not required to be above the age of 21.
Social Media Manager
Current Openings: Pittsburgh and NYC
Are you always on your phone? Are you that person who is constantly taking photos for the ‘gram, and live tweeting your favorite shows? Do you think memes are internet currency and understand what will go viral before it goes viral?
In three months, you’ll be expected to build our social media presence across Facebook and Instagram. You will post interesting content multiple times a day and interact with our readers, peers, and critics. Internet addiction and a sense of humor are highly encouraged.
How to Apply
Interested? Send a cover letter and résumé to [email protected] with the subject line SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN. In addition to a cover letter, applicants should send a short but detailed proposal of how they would run each of our three social media accounts. Give us a clear idea of your skill set(s), vision, and creative approach. Social media interns are not required to be above the age of 21.
Sales, Events, and Logistics Internship
Current Openings: Pittsburgh and NYC
Can’t write? Can’t photograph? Love craft beer? We’ve got a position for you.
In three months, you’ll learn how we use research and marketing to build our audience, legitimize our brand, and keep the lights on. The ideal candidate must have strong verbal and written skills, respond to emails as quickly as texts, and be able to visualize a project from inception through to completion. This is a jack-of-all-trades position. You will learn a little of everything and be expected to juggle multiple projects at once. Relevant experience in sales and proficiency in Powerpoint and Excel is a plus.
