Since 2011, Anheuser-Busch InBev has quietly bought ten craft breweries. Today, The Brewers Association has launched the largest crowdfunding campaign in history to fight back. That’s right, David is going to buy-out Goliath.

“Independent craft brewers refuse to be muscled out by Big Beer,” said Andy, a spokesperson for the #takecraftback campaign. “And we are uniting on an unprecedented scale to take on Big Beer and their efforts to make it harder for beer drinkers to find their favorite independent craft beers at their favorite bars, liquor stores, and restaurants.”

As of 12:00 AM today, only 30 minutes after the campaign went live, the campaign had raised $71,620 from 170 independent backers. In order for the campaign to proceed, backers need to raise $213 billion. No credit card is needed to pledge — the campaign promises to be in touch only if the $213 billion gets raised.

Until then, backers are welcome to their choice of a free #takecraftback sticker, hat, koozie, or shirt.
