Walmart Does Craft?
Apparently Walmart has been selling its own brand of craft beers since 2016, but the craft beer world only just found out about it. Walmart offers multiple craft beers, like Cat’s Away IPA and After Party Pale Ale. The industry, however, is debating just how reasonable it is for Walmart to consider themselves craft.
It’s FeBREWary
It’s officially Maryland Craft Beer Lovers Month. This month, Maryland will feature events, hotel deals, beer launches and food pairings. Events will continue until the end of February, and tourists are more than welcome.
Brewing Scholarships for West Coasters
The Glen Hay Falconer Foundation is accepting applications for two full-tuition scholarships to Siebel Institute. One program is to the World Brewing Academy Concise Course in Brewing Technology in Chicago in November 2017, and the other is to the World Brewing Academy International Diploma Course at Siebel’s Chicago and Munich campuses from August to November 2017. Applications will only be accepted from 11 west coast states (bummer we can’t apply!)
Pacifico Rebranding is On Point
Mexican beer company Cerveza Pacífico Clara, AKA Pacifico, just rebranded their signature Mexican pilsner beer, and it perfectly captures their beachy, summer vibe. Bright colors and geometric shapes took this beer brand from a simple classic to a bold and edgy surfer’s dream.
Fresh as Helles
Boston Beer Company’s Samuel Adams just released two new seasonal beers: Fresh as Helles and Hopscape. Fresh as Helles is a light amber helles lager with notes of honey, citrus and orange blossom. Hopscape is a golden wheat ale with citrus and pine hop character and grapefruit aromas.
